Visitation Policy
It is our intent to protect the safety, health, and wellbeing of both our Residents, Associates, and Guests. We partner with community leaders and local health departments and review guidance from the CDC to ensure our operating procedures align with the latest recommendations.
Infection Control Protocols:
- Visitors are encouraged to utilize hand hygiene protocols, including washing hands or using hand sanitizer before and after visits.
- Hand sanitizing stations are available at all entry points and throughout the facilty.
- Visitors showing symptoms of illness or who have been exposed to infectious diseases are advised to postpone their visit.
- In the event of a positive communicable disease test result of an associate or resident, communication from the Executive Director or designee will occur to residents, staff and families and the local health department within 24 hours.
- Signage will be posted at each entrance into the community notifying visitors and staff of an infectious outbreak and the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to minimize the risk of transmission.
- Visitors, vendors etc. will sign in and out and will be required to sign acknowledgment that they are aware of positive cases within the community.
- Visitors entering the community may be screened for signs and symptoms.
- At no time shall the community require a visitor to provide proof of vaccination or immunization status.
- Residents or associates that experience a positive test result will self-isolate as directed by the CDC or Local Health Department Guidance. Return to Work guidance will be given per the CDC recommendations.
- Infection Prevention education will be available to associates, residents, and guests.
- Masks will be offered upon entry when deemed necessary.
In-person visitation is always allowed in the following circumstances, unless the resident objects:
- End-of-life situations.
- Residents, clients, or patients struggling with the change in environment and lack of in-person family support.
- Major medical decisions.
- Emotional distress or grieving the loss of a friend or family member.
- Cueing or encouragement to eat or drink.
- Residents, clients, or patients who used to talk and interact with others but are now seldom speaking.
Additional Visitation Provisions:
- Residents may visit with any person of their choice during visiting hours, which are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at a minimum.
- Upon request, the facility will make provisions to extend visiting hours for caregivers, out-of-town guests, and in other similar situations.
- Overnight visitation outside the facility with family and friends is permitted in accordance with facility policies and physician orders.
- Facility visiting hours are flexible, taking into consideration special circumstances such as out-of-town visitors and working relatives or friends.
- Recognized volunteer groups, representatives of community-based legal, social, mental health, and leisure programs, and members of the clergy are permitted access to the facility during visiting hours to visit with and provide services to any resident, with the resident’s consent and in accordance with approved policies.
Compliance and Enforcement:
- The Executive Director assumes responsibility for ensuring compliance with this policy.
- In-person visitation may be suspended for specific visitors who violate these policies and procedures.
